Central Okanagan Massage & Acupuncture (“COMS,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy, confidentiality, and security of the personal and personal health information entrusted to us.
We collect, use, disclose, store, and dispose of personal information in accordance with British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and other applicable laws, regulations, and professional standards.
Our regulated healthcare practitioners, including Registered Massage Therapists and Registered Acupuncturists, are also subject to the privacy, confidentiality, consent, and record-keeping requirements established by their regulatory bodies, including the College of Complementary Health Professionals of British Columbia (CCHPBC).
We do not sell or rent our clients’ personal or health information.
2. What Information We Collect
Depending on the services you receive, we may collect information including:

- Date of birth;
- Emergency contact information;
- Appointment and booking information;
- Health history and intake forms;
- Medical conditions, symptoms, injuries, medications, allergies, and other information relevant to treatment;

- Physician referrals or other healthcare documentation when applicable;
- Insurance company information, policy numbers, member or certificate numbers, and other information required for direct billing;
- Information relating to ICBC, Veterans Affairs Canada, or other third-party benefit programs when applicable;
- Payment, transaction, invoice, and receipt information;
- Communications between you and our clinic or practitioners; and
- Limited technical information generated when you use our website or online services, such as IP address, browser type, device information, and website activity.
We collect only information that is reasonably necessary for our services, business operations, legal obligations, and professional responsibilities.
3. Why We Collect Personal Information
We may collect and use personal information for purposes including:
- Booking, confirming, changing, and managing appointments;
- Providing massage therapy, acupuncture, regular massage, and other services;
- Assessing your health and determining appropriate treatment;
- Maintaining accurate patient and treatment records;

- Sending appointment confirmations and reminders;
- Processing payments and issuing receipts;
- Processing insurance and direct billing claims;

For example, when you provide health information to a practitioner for treatment, you are consenting to the reasonable collection and use of that information for providing your care.
