Natural Way For Healing
Years of Experience, Most Effective
A registered Acupuncturist (RAc) in British Columbia is a health professional regulated by CTCMA under BC’s Health Professions Act.
Like all regulated health professionals, RAcs practice within their professional scope of practice. For RAcs, this means providing primarily manual, treatment and assessment in accordance with the definition of “Acupuncture Treatment” in the Acupuncture Regulation.
Many modalities and treatments that may be considered acceptable in other jurisdictions are outside the scope of practice of College of TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE PRACTITIONERS + ACUPUNCTURISTS of British Columbia
Acupuncture has been practiced in Asia for thousands of years but only in the past 40 years has it really spread to the Western world.
The fact that it has been around for such a long time speaks to how effective it can be.
It encourages the body to promote it’s own natural healing abilities and improve it’s functioning.
Most scientific studies done on acupuncture show its effectiveness in decreasing pain (both chronic and acute). In terms of the Western view, acupuncture works due to a variety of scientific reasons, including:
Not only does acupuncture help to reduce the pain, it also aids in a speedier recovery process.
In terms of its effects on the sympathetic nervous systems, patients seek out treatment to aid in quitting addictions, aid stress reduction and management of anxiety disorders.
Acupuncture is also commonly used by pregnant women to induce labour safely and naturally.
Acupuncture sessions generally last one hour. The first session may last a little longer as the acupuncturist reviews your health history form with you.
Patients may be treated laying face down or face up, depending on the course of action the acupuncturist decides upon.
Along with acupuncture needles, patients will also be treated using various Traditional Chinese methods including cupping, massage techniques, ear seeds, intradermal needles, moxibustion and infrared heat.
The additional methods will depend on patients current symptoms and may vary session to session and are included at no additional charge.
